What future do oilfield service companies have in the energy transition?
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is increasingly seen as one of several catalysts to the energy transition. As countries seek to reach their decarbonization goals, they will have to go beyond switching from coal to natural gas-fired power generation, and explore carbon-efficient options across all energy demand segments. Many countries around the world are now seeing […]
Interest in the energy transition is growing rapidly and investments are following that interest closely as well. Carbon credits and their pricing will, however, play a critical role in paving the pathways for these projects.
The U.S. renewable diesel demand is currently fulfilled by limited domestic production (~26,000 bpd) and increasing imports from Singapore. To address this supply gap, U.S. refiners plan to increase their renewable diesel production capacity by approximately 300% (228,000 bpd) over the next five years, primarily driven by California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS).
Will reshaping Latin American fuel markets threaten U.S. refined product exports?
Decreased refinery utilization in Latin America over the last decade, falling by nearly 30% to just over 50% of capacity, has been a key factor driving refined product imports. Despite planned investments in new capacity, regional economic and political challenges have largely hindered their realization.
In the August 2020 edition of the ADI chemicals newsletter, we discussed how global chemical companies increasingly faced ESG pressures amidst a mixed 2020 economic outlook. This featured a forecasted GDP contraction but a late Q2 recovery in auto sales and PMI. Europe saw plastic recycling and green hydrogen collaborations, while the Americas had an […]
In the August 2020 edition of the ADI newsletter, we dove into the critical developments that shaped the energy landscape. We examined the significant role carbon credits were poised to play in driving energy transition projects, and posed the crucial question: How would oilfield service companies adapt to this evolving sector? We also explored the […]
