The promise of hydrogen as a key enabler of decarbonization is gaining momentum, with potential end uses spanning refining, chemicals, heavy transport, and other hard-to-abate sectors. ADI Analytics helps clients navigate the evolving hydrogen economy by evaluating technologies for hydrogen production, storage, distribution, and utilization, identifying opportunities, and developing strategic approaches across the hydrogen value chain.

Hydrogen has gained global momentum as a clean energy carrier with the potential to decarbonize industries where electrification is not practical. Low-carbon hydrogen—produced via electrolysis using renewable power (green hydrogen) or from natural gas with carbon capture (blue hydrogen)—is central to net-zero pathways in sectors such as ammonia production, refining, steel, shipping, and aviation.
Governments worldwide are offering strong policy support, including tax credits, grants, and national strategies. In the U.S., the Inflation Reduction Act introduced the 45V hydrogen production tax credit to significantly improve the economics of green and blue hydrogen projects. Meanwhile, the DOE’s Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs (H2Hubs) program aims to build out large-scale infrastructure and drive demand aggregation.
Despite growing interest, the industry still faces challenges. Electrolyzer costs remain high, blue hydrogen depends on effective CO₂ capture and storage, and infrastructure for transport and storage is limited. Additionally, evolving standards for emissions accounting, such as hourly matching and lifecycle analysis, add complexity for project developers.
Still, with falling renewable power prices, technological advancements, and maturing policies, hydrogen is poised to scale rapidly over the next decade. Strategic partnerships, off-take agreements, and end-use alignment will be critical to achieving commercial viability and long-term growth.
How ADI helps
ADI Analytics works with clients across the hydrogen value chain—including oil majors, refiners, midstream operators, chemical producers, industrial equipment manufacturers, technology start-ups, end-users, and investors—to support decision-making across strategy, technology, and commercialization:
- Market intelligence & forecasting including scenario planning to evaluate the pace and scope of hydrogen adoption, regional supply-demand modeling, cost benchmarking, and opportunity assessments across blue, green, and other hydrogen pathways.
- Project evaluation & asset strategy covering techno-economic modeling of production, storage, and distribution assets, site screening and feasibility studies, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis for hydrogen-based transportation and industrial applications.
- Technology & policy analysis involving competitive benchmarking of hydrogen production pathways, maturity assessments of storage and fueling technologies, and analysis of policy incentives and regulatory standards such as 45V qualification criteria.
- Investment support & commercial due diligence such as evaluation of hydrogen-focused companies, infrastructure assets, and technology providers for investment, M&A, and strategic partnerships.
- Strategic planning & commercialization strategy including go-to-market planning for early-stage companies, industrial equipment demand analysis, partnership development, and roadmaps for end-use adoption and long-term growth.

Gastech reinforces natural gas and LNG’s growth supercycle
This was an exciting week as ADI Analytics was honored to host U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum at our exhibit at Gastech 2025 in Milan. Secretary Wright showed keen interest when our conversation shifted from gas and LNG to produced water management—a topic likely close to his past life leading […]
Hold ’em or fold ’em: Navigating the hydrogen downturn
Hydrogen is key to decarbonizing, and countries worldwide unequivocally recognize this, as seen from the widespread policies supporting hydrogen market development displayed in exhibit 1. Most European countries have developed hydrogen strategies and roadmaps, with targets for green H2 production capacity by 2030, including 5.0 GW in the UK, 10.0 GW in Germany, and 6.5 […]
