Global sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) activity progressed this month through key agreements, certifications, and policy moves across major regions. These developments reflect growing collaboration among airlines, energy firms, technology providers, and governments to scale SAF production and adoption worldwide.
SWISS committed to sourcing synthetic SAF from Synhelion, while Shell secured a long-term offtake deal for output from Green Sky Capital’s plant in Egypt. EcoCeres achieved CORSIA certification for its facility in China, and Metafuels awarded McDermott the FEED contract for its Rotterdam project. Sumitomo Corporation partnered on a pilot Pongamia plantation in Australia to explore new feedstock options. In the U.S., legislation was introduced to reinstate and extend SAF tax credits, aiming to accelerate domestic clean fuel development.
