SAF investment is scaling across offtake and feedstock. Deutsche Bank agreed with Lufthansa Group to invest in SAF certificates to reduce business travel emissions, while Green Sky Capital partnered with Axens to develop a SAF production facility in Egypt targeting commercial operations by the end of 2027. VAROPreem acquired Sunpine, securing renewable feedstock for its HVO and SAF plants in Sweden, and Moeve and Exolum secured project financing to develop the Muelle Sur logistics hub supporting feedstock import and renewable fuel export for Moeve’s biofuels plant in Spain.

On technology, ASTM International certified the MTJ pathway, enabling commercial SAF production from biomethanol and e-methanol. Indonesia announced a SAF blending requirement for international flights starting in 2027, with a phased roadmap toward a higher blend target by 2060.
