Global progress on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) continued to accelerate in October 2025, marked by new offtake agreements, book-and-claim programs, and production starts across multiple regions. Smartenery signed an e-SAF offtake with Q8 Aviation, Lootah Biofuels began producing SAF in the UAE, and Bangkok Airways introduced a 1% SAF blend requirement on commercial flights.
Several large-scale e-SAF projects advanced with engineering awards and investment commitments in France, Denmark, and Texas, while Japan Airlines backed a new domestic biorefinery. Airlines also strengthened adoption initiatives, with Norway launching its first green domestic SAF route and Kenya Airways unveiling Africa’s first regional SAF policy roadmap.
