Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) development accelerated globally through September 2025, supported by new offtake agreements and partnerships. Airlines such as Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines expanded SAF use, while logistics players such as Belimo Automation and Swiss WorldCargo integrated SAF use to reduce Scope 3 emissions.
The sector saw broader advancement in refinery conversions and next-generation feedstock conversion. USA BioEnergy, Preem, and Haffner Energy advanced new SAF projects, while companies such as Velocys, BTG Bioliquids, and LanzaTech introduced new SAF pathways (including waste-to-fuel and bio-based SAF technologies). Emerging developers like Greenlyte, DG Fuels, and Highbury Energy moved forward with e-SAF and biomass projects, reflecting continued diversification and maturity in the global SAF landscape.
