In October 2025, global SAF activity accelerated, marked by new offtake agreements, book-and-claim launches, and production milestones, including HondaJet’s 100% SAF test flight and multiple waste-to-SAF project developments across the U.S., Europe, Africa, and Asia Pacific.

  • Kenya Airways operated Africa’s inaugural flight using SAF attributes under a book-and-claim system, achieving an equivalent of a 50% SAF blend on the Nairobi–Cape Town route.
  • Arcadia eFuels, a Danish e-SAF producer, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ATOBA Energy to supply ~50 million gallons of e-SAF.
  • Iberia, a Spanish airline, launched a book-and-claim program called “SAF Circle” to help companies reduce their Scope 3 emissions through SAF used in Iberia’s operations.
  • Honda Aircraft Company announced that its HondaJet has become the first twin-turbine light business jet to complete a test flight powered by 100% SAF.
  • Montana Renewables (MRL), in collaboration with Calumet Montana Refining (CMR), commissioned a new on-site blending and shipping facility in Great Falls, Montana, to supply a 50% SAF blend known as “MaxSAF”.
  • XCF Global signed an agreement with New Rise Australia to develop SAF production facilities across Australia.
  • Plug Power, a U.S.-based hydrogen fuel cell producer, partnered with U.S.-based project developer Edgewood Renewables to construct a biofuels facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • NTPC Green Energy, India’s leading power generation company, invited bids to develop a SAF production facility in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh, India.
  • Houston American Energy, a U.S.-based energy company, partnered with BTG Bioliquids to develop a SAF facility at its Cedar Port site in Baytown, Texas.
  • Samsung E&A signed an agreement with Honeywell to advance waste-to-SAF technologies, building on their existing collaboration with Johnson Matthey and GIDARA Energy to produce SAF from biomass and municipal waste.
  • Avioxx, a UK-based SAF technology company, selected NIRAS, a European engineering and construction firm, to lead the design review and development of its waste-to-SAF facility in Runcorn, UK.
  • F&B Bio Recyclage, a Ghana-based recycling firm, completed Phase 1 of its municipal solid waste-to-SAF facility in Ghana.
  • Alohi Renewable Energy acquired a 36.5% stake in Hawaii Renewables, its joint venture with Par Pacific, for ~$100 million.
  • Cathay Group and Airbus invested ~$70 million to accelerate SAF projects in Asia and globally.
  • Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), a Texas-based research organization, produced a batch of e-SAF using captured CO₂ and green hydrogen.
  • The UK Department for Transport (DfT) released a new levy on fossil-based jet fuel suppliers to fund the revenue certainty mechanism (RCM) that aims to provide price stability for SAF producers.
  • The Washington State Department of Ecology opened a public comment period to assess the environmental impact of SAF production and distribution in Washington.
  • Singapore passed the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (Amendment) Bill to introduce a mandatory scheme that requires airlines to use a minimum 1% SAF blend for flights departing from Singapore starting in 2026.
