Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) development advanced globally in August 2025, marked by new strategic partnerships and expanded adoption. Lufthansa Cargo and CEVA Logistics scaled up their SAF use to decarbonize air freight operations, while Finnair and CN Logistics formed a joint initiative to reduce Scope 3 emissions across their value chains.
The sector saw continued progress in project development, certification, and policy support, with companies such as LG-Eni BioRefining, Pertamina, and Indian Oil Corporation achieving key milestones across Asia Pacific. New SAF technologies advanced through partnerships by EcoCeres, Provectus Biofuels, and Cemvita, while regulatory bodies, including the U.K. Renewable Transport Fuel Association and the Japan Accreditation Board, strengthened frameworks to enable wider adoption and market growth.
