Global momentum for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) advanced in September 2024, driven by new emission goals, pilot projects, and strategic investments. Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 committed to significantly cutting aviation emissions, while Malaysia outlined a national roadmap to achieve net-zero aviation emissions.
The month also marked growing investor and industry participation. Brookfield Asset Management made its first major SAF investment, while Summit Next Gen secured a site for its SAF facility in Houston. Partnerships such as Euglena and Petronas Research on microalgae-derived SAF and Haffner Energy’s launch of a SAF-focused subsidiary, reflected expanding R&D activity.
