Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) initiatives expanded in May 2024, supported by early airline adoption, regional logistics, and growing cross-sector collaboration. Vietnam completed its first SAF-powered flight from Singapore, while Vestas in Denmark integrated SAF use in operations for offshore wind development in the Baltic Sea.
Partnerships and supply growth advanced across Europe, Asia, and the U.S. with expanded SAF distribution by Neste and Avfuel, new project plans from MetaFuels, and shipments from NYK Bulkship Asia to U.S. ports. Research cooperation also strengthened as Ryanair extended support to Trinity College Dublin, reinforcing efforts toward aviation decarbonization.
