Global Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) initiatives in March 2024 progressed through airline acquisitions, supply partnerships, and new production developments. Southwest Airlines, Ryanair, and Emirates advanced SAF adoption through large-scale purchase and supply agreements, while ABB and Cap Clean Energy collaborated on facility development across Canada.
Production and investment activity also accelerated globally. LanzaTech secured approval to establish a SAF facility in the U.K., TotalEnergies and Sinopec advanced a joint project in China, and Aemetis obtained U.S. government support for its SAF production plant. Additional initiatives from ENEOS and Revo International in Japan highlighted the growing integration of waste-based feedstocks in SAF production.
