Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) initiatives in December 2023 expanded through airline partnerships, infrastructure development, and regional investment. LOT Polish Airlines and SkyNRG launched a book-and-claim deal to access SAF credits, while Raya Airways and Royal Air Monaco began incorporating SAF into regular operations. VINCI Airports and TotalEnergies also collaborated to increase SAF availability across France.
Production and collaboration efforts strengthened globally. China’s State Power Investment Corporation announced a major investment in hydrogen-derived SAF, while FatHopes Energy, ENOC, and Marubeni advanced regional supply agreements. New test flights by TotalEnergies, Masdar, and Axens, alongside LanzaTech’s waste-to-fuel initiative and Wizz Air’s long-term SAF investment, highlighted growing global momentum toward commercial-scale production and deployment.
