Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) expansion in October 2023 was driven by new partnerships, government support, and certification progress. Masdar and Boeing collaborated to advance SAF adoption across the Middle East, while Petronas and Idemitsu strengthened production and distribution cooperation in Asia. Neste and DHL Group launched a collaboration with ISCC to pilot a credit transfer system for SAF tracking.
Technology and investment activity also advanced across multiple regions. ADNOC secured sustainability certification for its Ruwais refinery, Honeywell and GranBio partnered to integrate ethanol-to-jet technology, and Willis Sustainable Fuels selected Teesworks in the U.K. for its SAF plant. Long-term agreements by World Energy and Microsoft, as well as funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, reinforced growing global momentum in SAF commercialization.
