In August 2023, SAF adoption expanded via cargo programs, inaugural flights, feedstock studies, carbon offsetting options, and helicopter engine use.

  • All Nippon Airways (ANA) announced the expansion of its SAF program to include companies that use ANA Cargo services.
  • Fiji Airways completed its inaugural flight using a SAF blend from Singapore to Fiji.
  • Idemitsu Josan, a Japanese petroleum company, and LOPS, a Japanese trading company, announced plans to conduct a study on the procurement of feedstock for SAF production.
  • Southwest and Pegasus Airlines announced a partnership with CHOOSE, a platform that offers its customers the option to offset the carbon footprint of their flights.
  • GE Aerospace announced that CT7 engines, commonly used in “go-anywhere” helicopters, will use SAF at IP Aero’s assembly and maintenance facility.
  • Raizen, a Brazilian energy company, becomes the world’s first ethanol producer certified by the ISCC CORSIA Plus for SAF production.
  • Malaysia’s palm oil board and Petronas signed an agreement to explore used cooking oil and waste palm oil as feedstocks for SAF.
