2023 July SAF Tracker highlights – #18

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) progress in July 2023 advanced through airline partnerships, increased investment, and new technology collaborations. Air Canada partnered with Air Company to develop power-to-liquid SAF technology, while the United Airlines Venture Sustainable Flight Fund expanded its investment portfolio and partner network.

Research and commercialization efforts also gained momentum. Virgin Atlantic prepared for the world’s first 100% SAF transatlantic flight, and Edmonton International Airport partnered with SixRing to promote biofuel use in aviation. Additional agreements by RockCreek, Alfanar, and The Lufthansa Group supported SAF production, while Mitsui and Taiyo Oil began joint studies on ethanol-based SAF and renewable diesel.
