In May 2023, SAF adoption advanced via inaugural flights, supply agreements, production expansions, and infrastructure development.

  • AirAsia India operated its first commercial passenger flight in India using SAF.
  • Kenya Airways’ SAF-fueled flight from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport marked the first time an African carrier used SAF in a long-haul flight.
  • Boom Supersonic signed an offtake agreement with Dimensional Energy for the supply of up to 5 million gallons of SAF annually, starting from 2026 to 2029.
  • World Fuel Services and Neste announced an agreement to expand SAF supply to 40 European airports.
  • Neste completed its Singapore Expansion project, effectively doubling its production capacity in Singapore.
  • Qatar Airways signed an agreement with Shell for the supply of 1 million gallons of SAF at the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
  • Honeywell and BP announced a partnership for the production of SAF using Honeywell’s Ecofining technology at five BP facilities globally.
  • Neste and Dansuk Industrial Corporation, a South Korea-based biodiesel producer, signed an MoU to establish strategic and commercial partnerships focusing on feedstock, biodiesel, renewable diesel, and SAF.
