In May 2023, airlines strengthened collaboration with fuel producers to expand Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) use across domestic and international routes. LATAM Airlines partnered with Bio-D on SAF projects in Colombia, while Vistara completed India’s first domestic wide-body SAF flight. United Airlines strengthened its supply partnership with Neste, and Ryanair signed a major offtake agreement with Repsol for operations in Spain and Portugal.
The sector also advanced in technology and infrastructure. Twelve and Emerging Fuels Technology formalized a licensing deal to scale SAF production, while Oleo-X launched a new U.S. pretreatment facility, and FlyORO partnered with Jet Aviation to expand customized SAF blending services in Asia.
