In April 2023, airlines, corporations, governments, and technology providers collaborated and invested in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production and procurement globally.

  • All Nippon Airways (ANA) announced purchasing SAF to fuel international and domestic flights from Haneda and Narita airports in Japan.
  • China National Aviation Group (CNAF) and Airbus signed an MoU to intensify Sino-European cooperation in producing SAF.
  • Bank of America, Boston Consulting Group, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Meta, and nonprofit RMI joined the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA) to purchase SAF certificates.
  • Qantas Group, Airbus, and Queensland Government are investing in the North Queensland biofuel production facility.
  • Shell decided not to move forward with a SAF project in Singapore.
  • Axens announced supporting the development of the BioTJet project, which aims to build the largest European SAF production plant using the Fischer-Tropsch (FT) technology.
