Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) activity in March 2023 advanced through new flight operations, major investments, and technology collaborations. LATAM Group completed its first international flight using SAF, while Airbus Qantas launched a fund to boost local SAF production in Australia.
Government and industry initiatives also expanded, with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) allocating funds to develop a green air hub, and Icelandair partnering with IdunnH2 to produce SAF from green hydrogen. Meanwhile, Raven SR secured funding for waste-to-fuel technology commercialization, and Yield10 Bioscience progressed research on using Camelia oil as an alternative feedstock.
