Oil and gas companies are making decarbonization commitments that include mainly cutting Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions although they are under growing pressure to also cut Scope 3 emissions. To this end, there is growing interest in understanding and benchmarking GHG emissions across the value chain from exploration and production through midstream and gas processing to refining and downstream processing.
