Dr. Bruce R. Cook is currently supporting CISTAR NSF Engineering Research Center at Purdue University as Industry and Research Advisor.
Dr. Cook’s previous role was Technical Manager BP Cherry Point Refinery where he led a department with teams of engineers and technologists focused on Process Engineering, Optimization, Process Control, Process Safety, Plant Integrity and Inspection.
Prior to moving to Cherry Point, Bruce was Director, BP Refining Technology & Engineering (RTE) Technology Development (TD) department in Naperville, IL. Prior to joining BP in 2007, Dr. Cook was employed for over 20 years at Exxon and ExxonMobil Research and Engineering where he held scientific and technical leadership positions in refining and energy technologies.
Dr Cook has a BS degree from Hope College and a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has over 35 US and international patents, and the co-author of over 20 publications. He has received several external awards in recognition for his work including, the 2001 American Chemical Society Southwest Region Industrial Innovation Award, 2005 American Chemical Society Heroes of Chemistry Award, and the 2006 NJ R&D Council’s 2006 Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award. Bruce has served as Vice President of the North American Catalysis Society (2008-2016), board member International Congress on Catalysis (2008-2016), and was the Chairman of the 2012 Gordon Conference on Catalysis.
