At the 2024 ADI Forum, Uday Turaga, CEO, ADI Analytics, explored the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition. He emphasized the critical role of innovation, investment, and policy support in accelerating decarbonization efforts and shaping a more sustainable future. He said that oil and gas would remain significant in the energy mix through 2050, despite decarbonization efforts. The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) would be crucial, accelerating clean energy adoption through tax credits for renewables, EVs, and carbon capture.
He went on to say that energy demand might stagnate due to efficiency gains, pushing out less competitive producers. Renewables, even with firming costs, were increasingly competitive with gas. Furthermore, the future energy landscape could be fragmented, with diverse technologies like Japan’s interest in ammonia as a hydrogen carrier, holding significant, yet smaller, market shares.
