At the 2024 ADI Forum, Jeffrey Dysard, CTO & EVP, NuMat Technologies, and Matthew Seabaugh, Founder, HeatPath Solutions, joined Uday Turaga, CEO, ADI Analytics. They participated in a dynamic panel discussion of engineered materials. The panel explored the evolving landscape of engineered materials markets. They shared insights on innovation, market trends, and the future of advanced materials. Focusing on Nylon 66 and MDI, they noted new growth from megatrends like electrification. They highlighted reconfigured existing capacity rather than new builds. The highly consolidated market saw companies building integrated value chains to maximize margins. Additionally, they highlighted the emerging electrolyzer value chain driven by smaller component players. Furthermore, they discussed the potential for green cement to reduce CO2 emissions, showcasing the versatility and potential of engineered materials.

Dysard introduced metal-organic framework (MOF) technology, a highly porous, tuneable, and functional material. Initially, it was commercialized in semiconductors and personal protective equipment. Now, MOFs are gaining traction among engineered materials for energy and oil & gas applications like carbon capture. Seabaugh presented their platform for diverse chemical reactions. It uses a high thermal conductivity support with thin catalyst coatings to improve productivity, selectivity, and energy efficiency. This is particularly in syngas production and in the conversion of sugars to low-carbon chemicals. Both companies sought partnerships for scaling and commercialization. They navigate funding and market challenges by focusing on solving real business problems.
