At the 2023 ADI Forum, Diaco Aviki, EVP & COO, Crestwood Midstream Partners, shared key insights on the evolving oil landscape in the Bakken and Permian basins. Crestwood Midstream Partners made a substantial investment in Bakken. However, they acknowledged that offsetting the natural decline in well productivity would be challenging. The Bakken was expected to expand geographically, particularly to the north and west. Despite a mature basin, cooperation among producers to optimize well length was occurring. Regarding Permian, the northern Delaware basin in New Mexico was highlighted as an area with significant growth potential. Even though the wells were not producing as much oil as some in Texas, they remained economically viable. Aviki noted a recurring trend where areas initially considered less productive became viable due to technological advancements, suggesting continued potential even in these less conventional areas.
