At the 2023 ADI Forum, Amy C. Davis, VP, Energy Transfer, Lake Charles LNG, and Dan McGinnis, CCO, Commonwealth LNG, joined Uday Turaga, CEO of ADI Analytics, for the LNG and natural gas panel. They discussed regulations and policies affecting LNG project development. Since a key permit (FERC) had been secured, there was concern that regulations might become stricter, a common issue among competitors. FERC had a responsibility to various stakeholders and faced ongoing scrutiny regarding its past decisions, particularly related to environmental assessments. They shared their experiences with government regulations, noting that the process was as much about politics as it was about compliance. They emphasized that the industry was highly efficient and safe but often unfairly criticized. The biggest challenge was not always the regulations themselves, but the opposition from non‑governmental organizations (NGOs).
