At the 2023 ADI Forum, Uday Turaga, CEO, ADI Analytics; Markus Digruber, EVP and Head of Innovation & Business Development, Hoerbiger; Anthony Borski, Director of Program Management, Nel Hydrogen; and Marcus Krueger of Hoerbiger discussed advancements in hydrogen compression and electrolysis technologies. Hoerbiger, a 125-year-old compression technology company, partnered with Ariel Corporation to develop a purpose-built hydrogen compressor, addressing scalability, reliability, and total cost of ownership for fueling stations. The first unit had been shipped for field testing at a Vienna bus company’s hydrogen station, marking a milestone in green hydrogen infrastructure expansion. Anthony Rinaldi of Nel Hydrogen highlighted the company’s alkaline and PEM electrolysis advancements, emphasizing large-scale hydrogen production. With manufacturing in Norway and Connecticut, Nel integrated oil and gas expertise to enhance electrolyzer system packaging in Lafayette, Louisiana. A recent partnership with GM enabled automation of cell stack production, accelerating Nel’s ability to scale hydrogen technology globally. The discussion underscored the intersection of oil and gas engineering with hydrogen innovation, demonstrating the industry’s growing momentum in sustainable energy solutions.
