At the 2023 ADI Forum, Anthony Borski, Director of the Project Management Office at Nel Hydrogen, and Markus Digruber, EVP and Head of Innovation and Business Development at Hoerbiger, joined moderator Uday Turaga, CEO of ADI Analytics, on the energy transition and hydrogen panel. Their discussion focused on the challenges surrounding the adoption and scaling of hydrogen as a fuel source. They compared hydrogen applications, noting that compressed gas was suitable for transport, while liquid hydrogen was more appropriate for continuous‑use scenarios such as marine operations. They also discussed the high cost of green hydrogen production as a key challenge. Efforts were centered on improving electrolyzer efficiency and reducing capital expenditure through modular design. The IRA’s local content rules also impacted manufacturing. Companies were adapting to varied international certifications and evolving hydrogen codes in new markets.
