At the 2023 ADI Forum, Panuswee Dwivedi, Project Manager at ADI Analytics, shared key insights on the future of hydrogen. Green hydrogen was poised to dominate by 2030, driven by PEM and alkaline technologies. Meanwhile, blue hydrogen remained vital for existing industrial users, often via CCS. However, the nascent green hydrogen value chain faced significant supply chain constraints, particularly concerning precious metals like iridium. Electrolyzer development prioritized reducing precious metal use, enhancing power density, and increasing operating temperatures and pressures for new applications. PEM was preferred for smaller, variable loads. However, both technologies are critical for hydrogen’s scalability and broad adoption. Continuous advancements are underway.
