At the 2023 FlexPO+ (now incorporated into the ADI Forum), Katy Boettcher, Principal, Ara Partners, and John Griffin, Director, The Sterling Group joined the investors panel. The panel was moderated by Uday Turaga, CEO, ADI Analytics. Discussions included topics such as chemical risks in investments. This was because Ara Partners and Sterling Group, both private equity firms, were actively investing in industrial decarbonization and manufacturing. Ara focused on green fuels, chemicals, and industrial tech. Meanwhile, Sterling targeted manufacturing with a strong emphasis on recycling-powered business models. Both firms successfully raised new funds while evaluating risks potentially chemical in nature.

Their portfolios were built on circularity and waste-to-value. Investments were made in diverse recycling technologies for PET, LDPE, and other plastics. This included innovative processes like converting food waste to ingredients. While many ventures prioritized execution and scaling, both firms acknowledged the need for continued advancement in technology. This was particularly crucial in complex recycling areas, highlighting underlying investment risks such as chemical challenges.
