The discussion also highlighted key regional differences, with sustainability initiatives being more prominent in North America and Europe, while Latin America’s market was highly price-sensitive and more susceptible to political and financial instabilities, attracting competitive Asian suppliers. Regarding bio-based plastics like PLA, Asia was experiencing rapid volume growth, particularly for single-use applications driven by government mandates, indicating a strong market pull for these sustainable alternatives that contrasts with other, less attractive bioplastic segments.
