At the 2022 ADI Forum, Kirsty McCormack, VP of Special Projects at BP, and Heath DePriest, VP of Emerging Energy at Phillips 66, emphasized the importance of setting intermediate milestones for emissions reduction during the Navigating the Energy Transition panel, moderated by Uday Turaga, CEO of ADI Analytics. McCormack outlined BP’s dual approach—reducing emissions from its current operations while investing in a low-carbon future. The company had implemented clear energy efficiency KPIs, aiming to cut steam, natural gas, and power consumption in refineries. As part of its 2050 net-zero goal, BP had committed to reducing oil and gas production and scaling up low-carbon energy sources, setting ambitious targets for 2025 and 2030.
BP had also pledged to bring 50 gigawatts of low-carbon energy into production by 2030, reinforcing its role in shaping a sustainable future. McCormack and DePriest stressed that preparedness and innovation were critical for the industry’s transition, with BP leading efforts to align operational shifts with long-term sustainability objectives. The discussion highlighted the necessity of actionable targets, ensuring that companies could adapt to evolving climate regulations and market demands while advancing clean energy solutions.
