February 1, 2018 – The 2018 Gas/Electric Partnership conference was held at the CenterPoint Energy Tower in Houston, TX. The conference covered a variety of topics such as pipeline systems outlook, gas supply for power, Permian/midstream infrastructure, and technical drivers. ADI Analytics’ CEO, Uday Turaga, focused on compression and drivers. Turaga presented on, “Compressor Technology Selection Trends” and had the opportunity to participate in a roundtable discussion on compressor/driver selection strategies.

The “Compressor Technology Selection Trends” presentation discussed ADI’s research into compressor and equipment selection drivers which included six key themes:

  1. The installed base in the oil and gas industry is dominated by centrifugal units followed by reciprocating compressors
  2. Upstream heavily relies on engines to drive compressors, while downstream relies on motors
  3. Operators choose equipment based on OEM reputation, while other varies by regional footprint
  4. Engaging with product lifecycle has become incredibly important for OEMs
  5. The shift from energy efficiency to reducing maintenance costs has increased centrifugal adoption on pipelines

ADI’s insights were built on over to projects convening a broad range of research, strategic planning, and competitive analysis of compressors. To understand our in-depth analysis, access the full conference presentation by filling out the information to the side.
