The impact of ESG on midstream CAPEX

At the 2020 ADI Forum, David Paradis, CEO of Trillium Flow Technologies, and industry leaders discussed the slow but evolving adoption of ESG initiatives among mid-sized manufacturers, particularly in fragmented equipment production sectors. While major producers had led sustainability efforts, mid-sized companies had only recently begun integrating ESG principles, focusing on early-stage improvements such as energy efficiency and waste reduction. Paradis emphasized that the push for ESG had worked its way back through the supply chain, with smaller manufacturers producing valves and pumps facing greater hurdles due to scale and resource limitations. Panelists noted that the deeper a company was positioned in the supply chain, the harder it became to implement ESG measures effectively. While the industry had made progress, challenges remained in fully embedding sustainability practices across smaller-scale operations. The discussion underscored the importance of gradual adaptation, strategic investment, and collaboration to ensure that mid-sized manufacturers could align with broader industry sustainability goals without compromising operational efficiency.
