At the 2019 ADI Forum, Uday Turaga, CEO of ADI Analytics, highlighted key trends shaping capital spending in the oil and gas industry. Unlike past cycles, investment is now more evenly distributed across the upstream, midstream, downstream, and LNG sectors, signaling a shift toward a more diversified and balanced approach. Midstream infrastructure and LNG expansion are seeing strong investment, marking a new era of development. At the same time, companies are becoming more efficient. The cost of production per barrel has dropped significantly since 2014–2015, thanks to cost reductions in oilfield services, streamlined supply chains, and smarter project execution. As capital spending continues to grow, suppliers and service providers must adapt to a more disciplined and efficiency‑driven industry landscape.
