During the new energy panel at the 2019 ADI Forum, moderated by Uday Turaga, CEO, ADI Analytics, Cory Steffek, Managing Director, Ara Partners, offered insights into the evolving new energy landscape. He compared the commercial models and technology development in this sector to those in traditional industries, stressing the importance of utilizing existing infrastructure when investing in new energy and noting significant investments in areas such as autonomous vehicles. However, he cautioned against a binary “feast or famine” perspective, acknowledging the inherent risks in investments. Highlighting the difficulty of scaling nascent technologies, he advocated for increased collaboration between mature technologies and startups to navigate the “valley of death” and expedite advancement within the energy sector.
