The past decade has seen a rapid proliferation in efforts to develop and commercialize technologies that are clean (cleantech) and/or improve conventional energy sources such as coal, oil, and gas by both start-up and established companies. The ADI Analytics team has helped start-ups, large companies, private equity and venture capital investors, technology incubators, and government agencies with its deep expertise in the following emerging technologies:
- Power: Renewable power generation (e.g., solar, wind, geothermal, biopower); smart grids and meters; energy storage (e.g., batteries, compressed air, pumped storage); carbon capture, storage, and utilization; and energy efficiency
- Transportation: Biofuels and low-carbon fuels; hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery vehicles, and fuel cells; and natural gas vehicles and trucks
- Coal, oil, and gas: Clean coal; gasification; enhanced oil and gas recovery using microbes and conventional methods; advanced exploration, drilling, completions, and production technologies
- Buildings: Insulation materials; energy monitoring and automation; energy-efficient appliances; and advanced lighting, heating, and air conditioning technologies
- Water: Water footprinting; produced and flowback water management; wastewater recycling and treatment; and desalination
- Waste-to-energy: Gasification, waste plastic to fuels, and landfill gas
Our work helps clients with emerging technologies in four ways. First, we assess technologies for investment or entry opportunities through market sizing, competitive landscaping, risk assessment, financial analysis, and overall attractiveness. Second, clients use our expertise to develop and refine business models, evaluate and capitalize on growth opportunities, and respond to market trends. Third, clients rely on our technical expertise to amplify their R&D efforts, audit data sets, review demonstration plans, and shape technology development and commercialization efforts.
