Conducted a survey of leading shale gas and unconventional oil producers in the Permian, Eagle Ford, Bakken, Marcellus, and Utica plays for practices around produced water treatment. Analyzed research for best practices for operators and a leading water treatment technology player. Key work streams included the following:
- Developed a survey in collaboration with the client to identify best practices and operational trends around produced water treatment in key shale plays
- Interviewed over 30 operators and water treatment vendors across a wide range of companies, plays, technologies, and assets
- Estimated costs of water treatment and breakdown across fresh water sourcing, transportation, and storage; additives for frac water; produced water storage and hauling / transportation; and disposal and re-use
- Forecasted trends and costs around water treatment in the oilfield including impacts of emerging regulations by play
- Profiled key water treatment vendors and their offerings to develop a competitive landscape and go-to-market strategies
- Distilled research into findings for both operators and vendors
