Benchmarked leading unconventional oil and shale gas plays for an oil major across a dozen metrics to identify best investment opportunities in the near- to medium-term. Key contributions included the following:
- Identified over a dozen metrics to benchmark shale plays in consultation with the client including oil and gas production forecasts, hydrocarbon production quality including share of associated gas, breakeven costs and breakdown by drilling and completion categories, rig productivity and supply chain (e.g., sand costs), midstream connectivity and demand outlook, regulatory pressure, and level of competition with other operators
- Developed short profiles for 8 leading shale plays in U.S. and Canada with an assessment of the outlook for each through 2020 and 2025
- Recommended best plays using a benchmarking tool based on weightage provided to various metrics developed in consultation with the client
