ADI collaborated with an oil & gas major’s downstream strategic planning group to develop a refined product market analysis for North America, supporting their biofuels strategy development. Our contributions included:
- Supply/demand balances: Analyzed historical and projected supply/demand balances for gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel in Canada and the US (2015-2040), with national and regional breakdowns for Canada and national and PADD-level breakdowns for the US.
- North American refinery utilization: Examined refinery utilization prospects based on assumptions about crude oil production, product demand shifts, and refining capacity changes.
- Crude oil prices and distillate cracks: Provided a base case outlook for context.
- Canadian and US market outlooks: Presented separate outlooks for each market, including gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel supply, demand, and trade projections, key demand and production drivers, and risks to the outlook (e.g., electric vehicle impact on diesel demand).
