The Haynesville Basin is set to see three new pipeline projects in 2023. Two of them will be to enhance the capacity of preexisting pipelines, while the other one will be an entirely new pipeline. If everything goes as anticipated, these three projects will cumulatively increase the play’s gas takeaway capacity by 2.35 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in the following two years, as displayed in Exhibit I, which could alleviate potential gas takeaway constraints in the shale play.

Exhibit 1: Haynesville gas production and takeaway capacity in billion cubic feet per day
Energy Transfer LP’s Gulf Run Pipeline will provide 1.65 Bcf/d of additional capacity to Haynesville. The project is expected to enter service in early 2023.
Enterprise Products Partners LP’s Acadian Expansion II is increasing compression and boosting capacity by 0.4 Bcf/d. The project is scheduled to commence operation in the second quarter of 2023.
The first expansion phase for DT Midstream’s Louisiana Energy Access Project (LEAP) will add 0.3 Bcf/d in capacity towards the end of 2023, boosting the overall capacity to 1.3 Bcf/d.
Other projects that are proposed can move forward, including Williams’ Louisiana Energy Gateway with 1.8 Bcf/d and further expansions of DT Midstream’s LEAP bringing 0.4 Bcf/d for a total of 1.7 Bcf/d in takeaway capacity for the LEAP by the end of Q12024. Collectively, these projects can provide 2.2 Bcf/d in addition to the already confirmed 2.35 Bcf/d from the projects coming online in 2023.
