January 13, 2014- PetroTech 2014, 11th International Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition was held from January 12-15, 2014, at India Expo Mart located on the outskirts of New Delhi. The conference aims to leave attendees with key insights on the industry along with topics discussing emerging energy markets in the Asia-Pacific region, sustainability, and diversification.
ADI Analytics also took part in this conference, bringing their expertise from supporting a wide range of energy companies. ADI's presentation aimed to answer, 'How can India ride the North American shale turnpike?'
There were three key messages put forth. First, North American shale gas has dramatically increased natural gas supply, however demand is still not keeping pace leading to oversupply and low prices, in spite of its use for power being the sole bright spot. Second, LNG, GTL, and MTG are all economic options under certain conditions. LNG is still a key option since we are moving away from nuclear and coal driving global demand for gas. However, GTL and MTG come with significant operating and technical risks dive to fewer commercial plants. Lastly, the report emphasizes that not all LNG projects are equal and finding the optimal investment opportunity should consider several factors.
