April 2016- The Oil & Gas Supply Chain Forum was a two-day event held on April 5-6 in Houston, TX. The event included 20 experts speaking on oil and gas supply chain issues along with discussing technology gaps and operator needs in the oil and gas production facilities. ADI Analytics’ CEO, Uday Turaga presented on, “Evolving the Supply Chain to Address Operators’ Pain Points.”
Having an extensive background in researching and analyzing large and small equipment and service segments across the oil and gas and chemical supply chains, ADI presented their key findings with four key messages.
Starting with addressing several factors including declining oil and gas prices leading to significant consolidation across many players in the oil and gas supply chains, ADI anticipates oil prices to stay depressed for a while. Two, oil and gas operators are intensifying exploration of new procurement such as leasing and bulk sourcing, to meet schedule and costs goals. Companies like Shell and Cimarex are trying new approaches to handle scheduling and costs, some of which are working with other companies that offer leased equipment. Third, regulatory pressures are another driving force behind the interest in new technologies used to reduce natural gas flaring and increasing natural gas consumption at well sites. Lastly, oil and gas operators have many unmet needs and pain points providing opportunities for incumbents across the supply chain.
