At the 2024 ADI Forum, Austin Harbour, Managing Director, Piper Sandler, and Sean Ebert, Senior Partner, Altira Group joined Uday Turaga, CEO, ADI Analytics, to analyze the oilfield services and equipment market. They discussed the evolving oilfield services (OFS) landscape, highlighting the challenge of quantifying digital solution value in upstream operations. While some OFS majors struggled to integrate digital, new areas like methane emissions management show promise. A resurgence of private equity interest in OFS was driven by strong free cash flow and attractive valuations, with a focus on production optimization and unconventional drilling.
The panel discussed the evolving oilfield services (OFS) landscape, highlighting innovation efforts and strategies in OFS/LNG/new energies. The trend of OFS acquiring early-stage tech was declining, with current acquisitions focused on ESP platforms, power generation solutions, and Middle East unconventional markets. The panel also touched on limited interest in mineral extraction from produced water and the societal resistance to small modular nuclear reactors, ultimately advocating for natural gas as a pragmatic bridge fuel.
