At the 2024 ADI Forum, Lydia Johnson, VP, ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions, gave the keynote address. This was followed by an engaging discussion with Uday Turaga, CEO, ADI Analytics. Johnson outlined the company’s strategy to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors. She focused on molecule-based offerings like CCUS, hydrogen, and biofuels. These leverage ExxonMobil’s core business and infrastructure expertise.

She highlighted the complexities and capital intensity of CCUS. Johnson emphasized the need for policy support and customer willingness to pay a “green premium.” Streamlined permitting is also crucial. Johnson also discussed ExxonMobil’s Baytown low-carbon hydrogen project and their new venture into lithium extraction from brine. They aim for a lower environmental footprint and target production by 2027. She stressed the importance of innovation, collaboration, and durable policies for a successful energy transition.
