Bringing LNG to the Caribbean: Overcoming infrastructure challenges

At the 2019 ADI Forum, Linda Berndt, VP, Eagle LNG Partners spoke about using ISO tanks for the delivery of LNG in the Caribbean with moderator Uday Turaga, CEO, ADI Analytics, during the LNG markets panel. She said that providing LNG to fragmented Caribbean islands has historically been challenging due to the high cost and difficulty of building extensive, permanent infrastructure. However, the industry has adapted by focusing on more flexible and modular solutions.

The ISO tanks offered a “plug-and-play” approach, as well as the direct delivery of small-scale LNG by specialized, smaller ships. The goal was to bypass the need for large, fixed infrastructure, enabling easier and more cost-effective LNG access for these island nations through smaller terminals and deliveries.
